Blown-in attic insulation is DIY-friendly too, though it's a two-person job. One feeds the machine, one runs the hose. Plan for a hot, itchy afternoon and full protective gear.

Rim joist foam board and duct wrapping are both doable if you can get to them. Cutting rigid foam and sealing edges takes time but no license.

Hand these off: dense-pack wall injection, spray foam application, anything involving knob-and-tube wiring, and vermiculite removal. These carry real risk of fire, moisture damage, or health hazards.

Also call a pro if your attic has poor access, active mold, or wiring you don't understand. The cost of a mistake up there (a foot through the ceiling, a fire clearance error) beats the savings.
