HomeSymptom provides educational guides and an automated diagnose tool to help you understand home repair issues. Our content is written and reviewed by our editorial team.

Everything on the site is for general information and planning. It is not a substitute for licensed trade work or a hands-on inspection.

Not professional advice

We are not your contractor, electrician, plumber, or home inspector, and using HomeSymptom does not create a professional relationship. Home repairs can involve real safety risks, including electrical, gas, structural, and water hazards.

Always confirm anything important with a qualified local professional before acting, and follow local codes and permit rules.

Diagnose tool limits

The diagnose tool uses automated analysis to generate a report from what you describe and upload. It works from limited information and can be incomplete or wrong. It is a starting point for research, not a definitive diagnosis.

You are responsible for how you use any report, and for deciding whether to hire a professional.

Accounts

You can use the free preview without an account. You can optionally create an account with an email magic link to keep your reports together.

Keep access to your email secure, since the magic link controls access to your account. Guest reports are tied to your browser session for about 30 days.

Payments and subscriptions

You can pay a one-time fee to unlock a full report, or subscribe monthly. Payments are handled through Stripe Checkout, and Stripe processes your card details.

Monthly subscriptions renew until you cancel. You can cancel at any time to stop future charges. See our Refunds page for how refunds are handled.

Acceptable use

Please use HomeSymptom for your own home repair questions and lawful purposes. Do not misuse the service, attempt to break its security, scrape it in bulk, resell reports, or upload content you do not have the right to share.

Only upload photos that are safe and appropriate for a home repair review.

Intellectual property

The guides, site design, and report format are owned by HomeSymptom and protected by law. You may use your own reports for your personal home projects.

You keep ownership of the descriptions and photos you provide, and you grant us permission to process them so we can generate your report and run the service.

Disclaimers

HomeSymptom is provided on an as is and as available basis. We do not guarantee that reports are accurate, complete, or suitable for your specific situation, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

Cost ranges shown in guides are educational planning figures, not quotes.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, HomeSymptom is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for damage that results from relying on our content or reports instead of a qualified professional.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in question.

Governing terms

Laws vary by location, and some protections cannot be waived where you live. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have that cannot legally be removed.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
